3 Key Challenges
To support our students to engage with our core values, we translated them into our 3 Key Challenges for all students:
- Excellent achievements;
- Impeccable conduct, and
- Making a positive impact in the community.
Students are supported to achieve the very highest standards in their academic studies, along with their extra-curricular activities, including sports, expressive arts and leadership development.
Through the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum our learners are confident and high-achieving. They leave us as skilled, motivated individuals with clear aspirations and a desire to succeed.
Our students are involved in a wealth of sporting activities and we are proud to have county and national level competitors in many areas including rugby, surfing, gymnastics, swimming, golf and martial arts.
Students also have the opportunity to develop their performing arts skills in our annual school performances, and to develop their skills as leaders on the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and through the Academy’s Citizenship Awards.
We expect the highest standard of behaviour, and support all students and families to achieve this.
Each student has a tutor, Head of House and Deputy Head of House who will monitor their well-being and ensure they receive any required interventions.
Year 7 students also have a student buddy who is there to support them from their first transition day in Year 6.
‘Inspectors saw many examples of respectful, good-humoured behaviour both between pupils and between pupils and staff.’ (Ofsted, June 2017)
Making a Positive Impact
Respect for others and our environment is the cornerstone of our approach towards work in school and with our community.
Students have the numerous opportunities to work with our primary partners and local employers to make a real difference in their community.
Pool Academy’s Citizenship Awards recognise the achievements of these students who go above and beyond and this leads effectively into the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
