A Pool Academy student is celebrating after winning a top sporting award.
Cameron Friggens, Year 7, received the prize for playing cricket recently.
He plays the sport for Redruth Cricket Club and took part in a hardball tournament.
Cameron played against many clubs for the tournament. His team came second overall in a close game with Helston.
Cameron said he is very proud of his achievement and he loves cricket.
He said: “I have been playing cricket since I was old enough to hold a bat. I practise every Friday during cricket season. I am a good all-rounder because I am great at batting and the other skills.
“Cricket is definitely something I would like to do when I am older. I’d like to do it professionally.
“My parents were watching when I took part in the tournament. It was a close game and they were impressed with me.”
