Clever calculations help Mrs Fullman bag the prize

Congratulations to Mrs Fullman who is the winner of a charity competition held recently.

A guess the height of a tower cake competition was held at Pool Academy as part of the MacMillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Many people had a go at estimating the correct height of the cake in the poster but Mrs Fullman pipped them to the post.

The height of the cake was 94 cm and Mrs Fullman was closest with a guess of 99.6 cm.

She revealed she had worked out the height by guessing how large each tier of the cake was.

“I calculated it in inches first,” she said. “I guessed it was about two inches for each sponge cake and then I added it all up.

“I then had to convert the total into centimetres.

“I was the first person to enter the competition and I won.

“It was all for a good cause.”

Steph York, who organised the coffee morning and the competition, said Mrs Martin was the next closest guess.

The prize was a necklace and earrings set.

A large array of cake was eaten during the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which helped to raise more than £160 for charity.

Mrs York said: “We like to take part in the Macmillan Cancer Support’s World Biggest Coffee Morning event every year.

“Staff at Pool Academy like to support such an important charity.”
