Pool Academy’s student Rock choir has been invited to perform at Heart Radio’s Christmas market.
Cast members of the school’s upcoming musical, School of Rock, will be heading to Launceston this weekend to sing to shoppers.
The market is being held at the Town Hall from 10am until 4pm and children from Pool will be singing a number of festive tunes and songs from their musical production from 11am.
Jamie Best, Pool Academy Drama teacher, said: “We will be taking between 15 to 18 students to the Heart Radio Christmas market to sing tunes from the show and Christmas songs as well.
“I was listening to the radio recently and they said they were organising the event and were looking for entertainment. I contacted them and said we could come.
“Everyone is looking forward to it.”
Students are working hard to make this year’s production of School of Rock the best one yet. The show has been performed on Broadway and the West End.
The musical is based on the 2003 film which starred Hollywood comic Jack Black. It tells the story of a jobless rock musician who pretends to be a substitute teacher at a school and uses the pupils to create a new band.
For one year only Andrew Lloyd Webber, who brought the film to the stage, has given the musical to schools to perform.
Pool Academy will be performing School of Rock on Tuesday December 12, Wednesday December 13 and Thursday December 14.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £4 for children and are on sale now.
