Boys praised for football tournament efforts

Footballers from Pool Academy have been praised after taking part in a December tournament.

A group of Year 7 boys played a number of games in the West Cornwall 5-a-side football event at Truro school this month (DEC).

They played against school children from Falmouth, Humphry Davey, Truro, Mounts Bay and Redruth during the day.

Once all the results were calculated it was revealed Pool Academy boys were given second place in their group beating Mounts Bay on goal difference.

Mark Fuller, from Pool Academy, said: “In the group stage we managed to get victories over Falmouth with 3-0 win, Humphrey Davey with 2-0 win and beating Truro on home turf with 2-0 win.

“We also managed to get a draw against one of the favourites for the group 0-0 against Mounts Bay along with another draw against local rivals Redruth 1-1.

“Our only loss came against Helston 3-1 in the group stage.

“With all the results calculated we managed to get second place in our group by beating Mounts Bay on goal difference.

“We were in the third/ fourth place play off but unfortunately we lost 3-0 against Richard Lander.

“The boys were absolutely brilliant and I couldn't have asked for more.

“This is a great opportunity to build on after the Christmas break in the Under 12 Cornwall schools cup.”
