Two budding artists have scooped prizes after being selected as the Christmas card competition winners.
Pool Academy staff have been on the hunt to find some top designs for this year’s official school Christmas card.
Many festive ideas were entered into the competition but Kaitlin Hawken, 7WCP, and Alycia Britten, 8AJJ, were chosen as the winners.
The girls were handed a goody bag full of prizes which included art materials and three Christmas cards with their art work on to give out to friends and families.
The card has been printed ready to send out to governors and other officials for the festive season.
Alycia, whose design is on the front of the card, said: “My mum says I am quite nifty with art and she told me to have a go and enter the competition. I didn’t think I would win but I still thought of a design.
“It was a nice surprise to hear I had won. I am chuffed. I can’t wait for people to see my card.
“My parents will be buzzing when they find out.”
Kaitlin, whose design is on the back of the card, said: “I didn’t think I would come first in the competition. I am really chuffed. I am happy with the prize.”
The competition was run by Pool Academy’s art teacher Mrs Ellis.
She said: “Two winners were chosen as joint first prize. One of the designs went on the front of the card and the other on the back.
“Really well done to the girls who won and thank you to everyone who entered the competition.
“We got some good designs from those who took part.”
