Students interested in show jumping

A group of students at Pool Academy have shown interest in taking part in a Show Jumping competition.

Lorna Gribble, from Pool Academy, held a morning meeting with students recently to gauge interest and more than 10 girls turned up.

The Cornish Schools and Colleges Team Show Jumping Competition is set to take place later this month and the girls are invited to take their own horses along. It is hoped that rugs and jackets can be provided by the school.

Mrs Gribble said: “We are trying to do some fundraising to get some more equipment.

“There was a big interest in the school show jumping team.”

The event is part of the Western Branch of the Pony Club is expected to take place at Colraine on October 14. It has been designed for secondary schools and colleges and divided into open teams of four and novice teams of four.

A trophy will be given to the winning teams and rosettes will be given to everyone who takes part.

Students taking part have been asked to pay a £10 entrance fee.
