A football club is calling on budding players to join their Under 14s team which includes Pool Academy students.
Illogan JFC U14s team holds two sessions a week. The first takes place on a Wednesday at Cornwall College to improve fitness with exercises including sit-ups and running. The second session is held at Pool Academy on Thursdays from 6pm – 7pm for football training.
Sean Lewis, who runs the sessions, said: “I am a qualified football coach at Illogan JFC U14's football team.
“I am looking for football players, boys or girls, to play. They have to be 13 years old and in school Year 9 but a child can play up.
“Essentially the age group a player joining is determined by his or her date of birth – this also mirrors the school year. The key date is 31st August.”
Students from Pool Academy who already play at the club includes James, Alex and Jack from Year 9.
James said: “It is a laugh. You can decide if you want to take part in matches or if you just want to enjoy training. It is good because you get to see people from the area as it is open to others from all schools.
Jack said: “The football club is amazing. I think people should join. We would like some more people.”
Alex said: “We have football every Wednesday and Thursday. It is enjoyable we don’t take it really seriously and it is nice to meet up with friends.
“We normally train on a Thursday from 6pm-7pm. The fitness is 5.30pm – 6.30pm.”
