Book fair bargains snapped up

Bargains are being snapped up as the Scholastic Book fair begins at Pool Academy with a wide range of titles.

Students have been using their break and lunch times to trawl the shelves for their favourite authors and stories.

The Scholastic Book Fair is being held in the library until Thursday (DEC6) offering half price book sale in time for people to buy presents for Christmas.

There are large containers full of books ready to buy, all for half price, with books including Michael Morpurgo and George Orwell.

Sandra Hampton, school librarian, said students have been helping her out during the sale over the seven days.

She said: “Everything Scholastic have sent us for the book fair is half price. People can buy whatever they see on the shelves. There is quite a good selection this year and if we run out of some popular we can always order some more.”

Kayleigh, Year 7, said: “To me this is heaven. There are all my favourite books here. I have already bought one book but I might buy another one yet. It is good to have the sale here and they are good prices.

“There is something for everyone, something for everybody’s taste as there is a good range of books.”

Emily, Year 7, said: “For people my age I would recommend they buy Wonder, by R J Palacio, it is about a boy who looks different to everyone else but the book shows you if you look different you are not different from everyone else.”

Mrs Hampton says everyone is welcome to come and have a browse at break and lunch times and there is stationery for sale too.

The closing date is 31st December and more information can be found at www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/mortalengines
