Teachers and students from Pool Academy have enjoyed taking part in Illogan’s annual Christmas lights switch on.
The group of students went along to the village on Friday night to be in the Lantern Parade. They met at the village school at 5:45pm and walked together, with other members of the community, to the Platt at 6.15pm ready for the switch on.
Will McKenzie, Assistant Principal from Pool Academy, said: “The children all walked along with the lanterns, sang Christmas carols and saw Santa turn up too.
“It was lovely to be part of the community event and to meet some of the primary school children there too.
“It was a nice chance to sing carols around the Christmas tree.”
Claire Meakin, Pool Academy Principal, said: “It was a lovely occasion, thank you for the invite.
“I would also like to say a special thank you to Treloweth School for lending us their lanterns so we could take part in the parade.”
Pool Academy members also took part in The Redruth Town Christmas Parade at the end of last month.
The school’s own Christmas concert will take place this Thursday evening from 6.30pm-8pm. It will be held in the hall with mince pies and hot drinks available.
