Pool Academy staff and students have been looking back at photographs from their fun ski trip earlier this year.
The group travelled to Santa Caterina, in the Valfurva Vally, near Bormio in Italy, to take part in six days of skiing in April 2018.
During the week the children and their teachers took part in a number of snow related activities. It wasn’t just skiing but there was also sledging, snow ball fights and ice skating on offer.
In the evenings there was swimming in the famous thermal spa in Bormio, a visit to a Gelateria for some fantastic gelato - Italian style ice cream - and an ice skating trip to the fastest ice rink in Europe where the British short track speed skating team train.
The end of the week culminated in a slalom race down the slopes with medal presentations from the Ski instructors later in the day.
Will McKenzie, Pool Academy teacher, went on the trip along with Vicky Gribble.
He said: “It was a fabulous week with great weather and really good snow conditions. The students really developed their skiing skills, some from absolute beginners to skiing the whole mountain in the last couple of days.
“The instructors taught us about the Alpine environment in late season conditions, we learned some basic Italian and we ate some fantastic Italian cuisine. All in all it was definitely worth the long coach journey."
It’s hoped there will be just as much fun on next year’s trip which is planned to take place in winter 2019.
