Percussionists have been invited to a playing day at a school in Truro later this month.
Drum kit players are being offered the chance to try out a number of different orchestral drums including tam tams, cymbals, xylophones, glockenspiels and more.
Truro High School’s Percussion Playing Day will be held on Sunday June 24 from 10am until 6pm. It will be led by Patrick Bailey who is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and conductor. There will also be a number of other experienced orchestral percussion coaches.
A spokesperson for the event said: “Playing in an orchestra is an exciting opportunity for percussionists but one which many young people do not get to experience. In order to offer the chance to play orchestral percussion to more young players, we will be holding a playing day for drum kit players. They will be able to try out a range of different orchestral drums.
“If you would like the chance to find out more about playing percussion in an orchestra and want an opportunity to try out the instruments for yourself, then sign up to our free Playing Day.”
The event will be held in the High School’s main hall.
To take part you must register for the event. For more information, talk to Mrs Cromey before June 19.
