A group of lucky Pool Academy students have been selected as winners in a competition run by Cornwall College.
Young songwriters, garden designers, engineers and gamers were invited to enter the creative competition earlier this term.
On Wednesday Rory Mason, from Cornwall College, came to Pool Academy to announce the names of 14 students who had been chosen as winners or runners up. He presented them with a letter inviting them to Cornwall College next month to claim their prizes.
The winner of the music category prize is to record their song at the college, the automotive category winner will see their car bonnet design turned into reality at the vehicle paint shop. The gaming winner will visit the college’s games design department to create their characters in 3D. A tour of Duchy College Rosewarne glasshouses will be the prize for the horticultural category and the catering winner has been given a recipe book and apron and will be given a tour of the college’s professional kitchens. The winning engineer will be given permission to use equipment to make a small object to take home.
Vicky Cox, Head of Cornwall College in Camborne, said: “The entries we received for the competition were really well thought out and well designed.
“It is great that we can work with Pool Academy on a project like this and invite students into Cornwall College.
“I am looking forward to welcoming them into our different departments and giving them an inside view to what we do here.”
