Budding musicians invited to an international festival

Budding musicians from Pool Academy have been invited to take part in an international festival.

Organisers are looking for students to perform at Hellys International Guitar Festival this year.

It will take place in Helston on August 7 until August 11 at the Old Cattle Market.

Tina Varcoe, Artistic Director at Hellys International Guitar Festival 2018, says there are a number of opportunities for guitarists.

She said: “We are very keen indeed to encourage young people to take part in this rather special event.”

Free entry will be given to anyone taking part who is under 16 years old.

There will be a number of different events going on during the festival including free open acoustic sessions. They are due to run every day from Wednesday until Saturday at 5.30pm. Anyone with an instrument is invited along for a chance to play in front of an audience.

Free 40 minute one to one tuition sessions with an established concert performer from one of around 12 different countries are also available. Lessons should start at 10.30am, 11.15am and 12pm from August 8.
