Plans underway for this year’s sports day

Plans are underway for this year’s sports day due to take place at Carn Brea Leisure Centre.

Students at Pool Academy are being urged to get into teams ready for the event which is due to take place on Tuesday, June 19.

Alistair Durant, Head of PE, said a range of activities have been organised for the day including running, hurdles, discus, long jump and high jump.

Staff and children will walk to the leisure centre ready for the start of events at 9.15am. It is due to finish at 1.15pm ready for the walk back to school for lunch.

Mr Durant said: “We are looking for 100 per cent of students in the school to take part in an array of activities and compete for their houses.

“The best performing girl and boy from each year group will be given the title of Victor or Victrix Ludorum.

“Students can dress up in the colours of their house while supporting but must wear their PE kit while competing.

“Team lists need to be in the google drive by the morning of Monday June 11.”

Parents and carers are invited to come and watch children on the day.

Students are advised to bring sun cream and a drink as staff hope it will be just as warm and sunny as last year.

There will be a presentation for the best sports girl and boy as well as the winning houses on the last day of term.

Last year the IT department brought a drone to take aerial photographs and film footage of the day.
