A group of students were left inspired after taking part in a Languages Taster Day in Truro.
The event was organised by the University of Oxford and Truro and Penwith College. Its aim was to explore the use of Modern Languages in research, interpretation, translation and marketing.
The students listened to a Doctor from Oxford University who gave a lecture on the many different benefits of languages.
At the end of the day the students were all handed a certificate for participating.
Sophie Stephens, Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Pool Academy, said: “We all had a really great day.
“There were lots of ex-language students talking about their experiences and speakers from Truro and Penwith College.
“The Doctor was really relatable and talked about Shakespeare and then Taylor Swift.
“It was a really positive day and it was nice to see our students treated like adults.
Evan Richards said: “It was really interesting and exciting to hear how languages are used in the real world.”
Beth Johns said: “It was nice to be part of something in a college and to meet new people.”
Another student added: “I liked the Doctor’s presentation. It was really good.”
