She is looking forward to meeting them all during transition days on July 4th and 5th.
She said: “I am really interested in meeting the new Year 7s and helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally at Pool Academy.
“I have been going out to the primary schools already and it has been lovely to see them.
“It has been really encouraging to see so many pupils enjoying our after school transition sessions. They have been taking part in virtual reality, cookery and PE and many more activities.
“I am looking forward to my role in September and will help the new Year 7s to settle in well and be happy. If they are happy they can achieve well. I would also like to help them gain a sense of community both in the school and the local area.”
Miss Meakin said: “Nicki Carter has proven herself to be a key member of the pastoral team over the last few years and I am feeling very positive about her new role as Head of Year 7. She has a incredibly energetic, supportive and approachable manner which helps to ensure all students she works with achieve their potential. Ms Carter will stay with the Year 7s when they move up to year 8 too, giving her over 2 years to work with them and help them to make a really positive impact in their community - both within school and the local area. I am excited to introduce her to the new Year 7 parents on 4th July at 6:30pm.”
