Hazel Berryman is joining the Science department this term.
After spending six years as an off-shore engineer she has turned her sights to teaching.
Hazel has recently qualified and this will be her first teaching position.
She said: “I am really excited to start my teaching career at Pool Academy. I am also looking forward to starting up a gardening club using the school’s greenhouses.”
Hazel lives on a small holding near Penzance where they train lots of horses.
Claire Meakin, Pool Academy Principal, said: “Hazel’s experience as an engineer means she can help students see where their learning could be applied in their future careers. Hazel will be able to use this personal knowledge to help shape her teaching in a really positive way.
“Hazel is joining an already very strong science team and I look forward to seeing what things the gardening club grow.”
