A horse-riding student travelled to the West Midlands to take part in an equine champions event.
Maggie Lawton, in Year 11, came 22nd out of 70 competitors when she took part in Arena Eventing champions at Aston le walls with her Area19 team. During the day they took part in cross country and show jumping categories.
Maggie rides with St Austell Bay and her team came fourth out of 15 teams.
She took her own horse, called Bailey, to the event. He is a 15 hands cob.
She said: “We did really well. It was a really long day. It took six hours to get up there and six hours back.
“All my family are proud of me.”
She had to take part in an event at Bicton College, in Devon, with 90 other people to qualify for the event.
Maggie said: “I go riding as often as I can. My horse is not that far from home. My mum helps in the morning and I muck out after school.
“I have four horses but only one that I ride.
“I am doing some show jumping this weekend. It is only local but it will be fun. Then next month I will be doing the British Eventing in Bicton.”
Maggie enjoys horses and is planning to have a career involving the animals when she is older. She will be going to college after her GCSEs to study an Equine Management qualification. She then plans to go to university so she can work helping people break in their horses.
