A talented musician from Pool Academy is carrying on the family tradition by playing in a band.
Kayleigh Davey, from Year 7, can play a variety of different instruments from strings to woodwind to piano and Keyboard.
She said: “Music has gone through the generations. My Great Grandfather was in the army and he played music and my Grandfather played in a band. My dad plays in the Illogan Sparnon. He plays the Euphonium and I play the cornet.
“I have been playing music for six years, since I was five. For as long as I can remember I have been listening to music. I like it because it is relaxing and something I like to do. It is something I want to continue when I am older.”
Kayleigh, who used to go to Treloweth Primary School, said: “My favourite subject at Pool Academy is music.”
Kayleigh, who describes herself as ‘the opposite to an introvert’ enjoyed singing with the school choir on Wednesday at the Regal Theatre in Redruth as part of songfest.
