Miss Meakin has worked at the Academy for nearly 9 years, originally as Head of Maths and most recently as Vice Principal. She became Principal on 1st September 2017. She has a vision of striving for excellence for every individual student, including the impact the students make in their community. She is really enjoying working with parents and the wider community to celebrate students’ achievements and helping them to ‘dream big’ and be successful!

Mrs Neesham has worked at the Academy for two years. Her previous role was as an Assistant Principal, leading Behaviour and Safety for the Academy after a relocation to Cornwall from Kent. Her Assistant Headteacher role in Kent was to lead three mini schools. Other roles have included Head of House, Raising Achievement Leader, Head of PBL and Assistant Curriculum Leader of English. Mrs Neesham has specialist teacher accreditation in Access Arrangements.

Mrs Ludlow started at Pool Academy eleven years ago as Head of English. She wants to ensure that all students at the Academy have the very best experience in every lesson and they are supported by every teacher to achieve success.

Mr Ryder has worked at the Academy for 8 years, originally in the English department and as the lead for our vocational provision. He now works with Mrs Ludlow and Mr McKenzie, overseeing the academic outcomes for students in years 7 to 11. He is also responsible for maintaining a fresh and challenging curriculum model to suit progression to the wide variety of pathways open to students when they enter Further Education.

Mr Walker has worked at the academy for two years. He has worked at a number of schools as Head of Maths and Lead Practitioner for Maths. His role this year centres on safeguarding, RE and PSHE. He works closely with the pastoral team to ensure students’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural education is to the very highest standard. He also leads the Academy’s drive on empowering students to work together on peer support programmes.
Mr William McKenzie, Assistant Principal - English, Maths and Science, firstname.lastname@example.org
Mr McKenzie has worked at the academy for two years as Head of Science and Professional Tutor. He previously worked at two other Cornish Schools as Head of Science, Head of Year and Outdoor education coordinator and well as teaching in Lima, Peru for a year. His focus is to work closely with Mrs Ludlow and Mr Ryder to drive up standards across the curriculum to ensure the very best outcomes for our students.

Mrs Facey joined the academy in January 2018. Her job covers all aspects of Student Support Services to ensure that support is available for all students. She works with the SEN Manager and the Learning Facilitators to ensure the interventions that the team provide are varied and meet the needs of the students. Mrs Facey also works closely with outside agencies to ensure support and guidance is provided for the academy.
