Creative Arts and PE
Creative Arts Vision Statement
Creative Arts, comprises Art, Drama and Music and is delivered throughout the school by a dedicated, creative and ambitious team of specialists. We aim to develop students’ understanding, skills and enjoyment in these subjects, through our innovative curriculums . Student success, coupled with engendering a love of the subjects is our aim.
The faculty offers a range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom designed to enable our students to access many different experiences, such as performing at “Songfest” and “The Hall for Cornwall” as well as Art Workshops with a professional from Falmouth University, to name just a few! Our passionate and knowledgeable teachers are able to deliver challenging and engaging lessons, and nurture students towards success.
During our rigorous Key Stage 3 programme, students learn vital skills, knowledge and understanding in each subject area which progress in depth towards GCSE level. Some of the Schemes of Learning we teach are “Mythical Creatures” in Art, “The Tempest” in Drama and “Rap and Hip Hop” in Music.
All of our subjects are offered as an option at GCSE level and each has excellent uptake. As well as gaining skills within each subject area, students also learn more about themselves, how to communicate with others and how to solve problems in an ever changing environment; vital skills for the world they will encounter when they leave school at the end of Year 11.

PE Vision Statement
The PE Department aims to provide a broad and robust curriculum that acts as a vehicle for developing student wellbeing. We promote student engagement and set high expectations for all students. In doing this, we encourage our students to have high aspirations for themselves throughout their time at Pool Academy.
We provide various opportunities to participate in sport and develop students' understanding of mental, social and physical wellbeing. Extra-curricular opportunities are provided throughout the year, across a wide range of sporting disciplines, such as hockey, girls' and boys' football, rounders and athletics.
Students take part in PE lessons throughout their school journey, following a “Head, Heart, Hands” assessment model in KS3 and a wellbeing programme in Years 10 and 11. VCERT PE is an option subject in Year 10.
