Senior Leadership Team
Mr N Ward: Principal principal@poolacademy.co.uk
Mr Ward comes with a wealth of experience after starting his career as a teacher of science at Launceston College in 1995. He has since worked at Treviglas Community College in 2004 and two academies in Plymouth. Mr Ward said he aims to prepare all students in ‘becoming responsible and active British citizens, who take pride in being part of their local community’.

Mrs Neesham has worked at the Academy for 6 years after a relocation from Kent. Having been a Senior Leader for over 12 years she has held a range of roles during her time in Education consisting of Head of Project based Learning, Head of House, Raising Achievement Leader, Head of PBL and Assistant Curriculum Leader of English. Mrs Neesham also holds specialist teacher accreditation

Mrs Thompson started working at the academy this year- September 2023. Having been a Senior Leader at Launceston College and Redruth School for over 3 years, she has been responsible for Raising Attainment and Teaching & Learning. Mrs Thompson is super passionate about all students within the Pool Community achieving the best possible outcomes and reaching their full potential so they can go on to lead great lives.

Mr James joined the Leadership Team as Assistant Principal in September 2021. He joined Pool Academy in 2017 starting as the Head of Mathematics before becoming the Curriculum Leader for Maths and Computing. Alastair has worked at several schools in the area during his 20 year teaching career and still believes that "teaching maths is the best job in the world!
