At Pool Academy we believe that History is not about learning a long list of facts and dates. Content is important, but so are the skills to use it. We focus on developing those skills that are transferable and valuable throughout life, and we do this by learning about stimulating and relevant topics that help to explain the world we live in.

We follow the Edexcel History A 9-1 syllabus. This comprises of three papers, detailed below, and all students entered for examination in the final year.
Paper 1- Crime & Punishment from 1000 to the present including Historic environment depth study on Whitechapel. This paper is worth 30% of the final grade.
Paper 2- The American West 1835-95 (Period study) combined with Anglo-Saxon & Norman England ( British Depth Study). This paper is worth 40% of the final grade.
Paper 3- Weimar and Nazi Germany 1918-39 (Modern depth study). This paper is worth 30% of the final grade.
