Students invited to stock up for Christmas at school book fair

Pool Academy students are invited to a book fair which could help raise funds to fill the library shelves with more novels.

Two large crates full of paperbacks are expected to arrive in time for the event which runs from December 7 – 14th.

The fair will be held in the library with many books sold at half price. This means students could get a new book for only £2.99.

School Librarian, Sandra Hampton, said students are invited to come and have a browse at break times and lunch times.

She said: “There will be lots of books to choose from. There are also £2 off book tokens for some of the titles including Joshua King’s Dream Magic.

“All the books in the fair will be brand new and if there aren’t enough of a particular title students are able to order them.”

This is the third year the school has held the fair and each year a percentage of the sale goes towards buying more books for the library.

Mrs Hampton said last year the event collected about £400 and the year before that £600.

She said: “I am looking forward to the fair and I hope as many people as possible will come and buy a book. They could make good Christmas presents.

“Let’s try and beat last year’s sales total.”

She said there was a range of different books including classics such as George Orwell’s 1984 as well as a number of non-fiction books.
