Carol concert to mark the beginning of the festive season

Christmas is coming and Pool Academy is holding a carol concert to mark the occasion.

The traditional event will take place at Trevenson Church on Tuesday (December 5) from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.

This is the first year Claire Meakin will be taking part in the service as Pool Academy’s Principal. She will be doing a reading.

Teachers Jack Jones and Sean Walker are organising the event and hope it will be a success.

Mr Jones is leading the musical side and has chosen a range of carols for the school choir to sing including Once In Royal David’s City, O Come All Ye Faithful and All I Want For Christmas is You.

The choir is made up from a selection of students from all year groups.

There will also be a number of readings ranging from traditional bible verses to contemporary prose.

Mr Jones said: “The carol concert is a great introduction to the festive season. We would love to see as many people as possible arrive for the evening.”

It is thought that the carol concert has been a feature in the academic year since the Academy first opened.

Claire Meakin, Pool Academy Principal, said: “I am looking forward to this year’s Carol concert. It marks the start of the festive season and I shall be doing a reading as part of the service.

“We hope to see as many people as possible attending the concert. It should be a really enjoyable event.”

There will be refreshments both before and afterwards.
