Musical rocks the school

Pool Academy’s biggest and best production yet has hit the stage impressing audiences.

The well-known Broadway and West End hit, School of Rock the Musical, was performed to audiences from December 12th-14th.

Students have spent all their free time rehearsing and even travelled to Launceston recently to perform some of the show tunes.

Jamie Best, Head of Drama at Pool Academy, said helping with the production has been exciting and everyone has pulled out all the stops ready for the performances.

He said dress rehearsals went well and the students held a matinee show for primary schools yesterday morning (TUE) before the evening showing.

Danielle Simmons brought along 58 Year 5 pupils from Treloweth School to watch the show. She said: “The musical is brilliant.

“The pupils have been looking forward to seeing it and have been really excited.”

Ms Keast, a Teacher’s Assistant from St John the Baptist Catholic Church, said: “I think the children enjoyed it. It is good to bring them here to have a look around the school as well.”

A spokesperson from Portreath School said: “The children enjoyed it. They have been looking forward to coming and seeing it. It is a nice Christmas treat for them and they are going to have a Christmas dinner back at our school as well.”

Claire Meakin, Pool Academy Principal, said: “I’m really proud of how hard everyone has been working to get the show off the ground.

“The show has a cast of brilliant singers and musicians.

“We are so proud of our students and are delighted the audiences have enjoyed the show.”
