Budding thespians have been invited to perform in the Hall for Cornwall at the end of the
Students from Pool Academy will be taking part in the play Ting Tang Mine, written by
Cornishman Nick Darke, at the city’s arts venue.
Rehearsals start this week with a final rehearsal on Saturday January 27.
Jamie Best, Head of Drama at Pool Academy, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for
anyone with a passion for acting to perform at the Hall for Cornwall.
“We hope that this will be a unique opportunity for students who would not have ever
considered acting on a stage or in a professional theatre. I hope to work with students who
have the courage to step out of their comfort zone.
“Only committed actors and actresses have been selected to take on the roles in the play.”
Pool Academy will join a number of other schools on the day. Each shall present a ten-
minute piece using the work of Cornish playwright and filmmaker as their inspiration.
Pool Academy will be showcasing Ting Tang Mine which explores the lives of a Cornish
community affected by the rise and fall of the local mine.
It was first performed by the National Theatre and Kneehigh Theatre have also acted out the
Mr Best said: “I hope as many people as possible will be able to show support and come and
watch our students taking part on January 31.”
