School book sale heralded a ‘phenomenal success’

A book sale at Pool Academy library helping to raise money for the school has been
heralded a ‘phenomenal success’.

It has been revealed that more than £300 worth of books were sold during the event
meaning £31 from those profits have been donated directly to the library.

Sandra Hampton, Pool Academy Librarian, now has a suggestion box for students to put in
nominations for any new books they would like to see added to the library’s collection.

She said: “The enthusiasm during the book fair was brilliant.  The students were extremely
excited by it.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who participated whether it be the student helpers
who made my job much easier, the parents and carers who helped make the book fair the
success that it was.
“I realise the economic climate and this time of year is always difficult so, all in all, it was a
phenomenal success.”

Three bookshelves full of paperbacks were delivered to the library on December 7 for the
start of the sale which ran for a week.

Many of the books were sold at half price which meant students could get a new book for
only £2.99.

This was the third year the school held the fair.

Students helped organise and sell the items during their morning break and lunch times.
