BMXing student’s successful season

A Pool Academy student is showing no signs of slowing despite the BMXing season coming to an end for winter.

Ned, in Year 8, has travelled the country and the globe taking part in competitions during the recent biking season.

He said he’s visited France, Leicester, Bristol and Blackpool and has plans to journey to Belgium.

“I was at a national competition in Leicester and I came 15th in Britain in my age category,” he said. “When I went to Blackpool I came 9th in my age category. I raced against Year 8s and Year 9s. There were 60 people in my races.”

The races last for about 50 seconds as the BMXers journey round one lap of the track.

Ned travels with his family to the different events and his sister takes part in some too.

“I love it,” he said. “I love that it allows me to travel and sometimes I get longer weekends too.”

He has been BMXing since the age of six and races with his club Cornwall BMX at Blackwater.
