Pool Academy student helps team win netball match

A Pool Academy student has helped her team win a senior league match recently.

Sophie, Year 10, is a member of the Lastonets Sky team which played against the Wadebridge Wildcats last week.

The age range in her netball team varies from around 14 years old to 40 years old and this was her first league match with the other players.

The game took place last Thursday and Sophie’s team won with a finishing score of 39-42. She is now looking forward to her next match on Monday against a team at Redruth.

Sophie said: “I have been playing netball since I was seven years old. I like the game because it’s a team sport and you get to play with other people.

“I hope to stay in the team for a long time. We have lots more matches. We will be playing right through until April.”

Lorna Gribble, from Pool Academy, said this was her first senior league match since moving up from a junior’s team.

Emily Cromey, Head of Faculty for Art, Music, Drama and PE, said: “Congratulations to Sophie and her team for doing so well in the match against Wadebridge. It is always wonderful to hear when our students are excelling both in and out of school hours. Keep up the good work.”
