Girls take part in Yoga Sessions
Girls have been taking part in Yoga sessions during their PE classes and are being invited back to take part in an after school club.
Karen Calder, a member of the community, has offered her time and skills to the academy free of charge to helps girls de-stress from their up-coming exams.
She came into lessons last week to show students in Year 10 and 11 a number of simple poses that helps to relieve tension.
PE teacher Sharon Bright also took part in the taster sessions and said they went really well.
She said: “Girls yoga will be taking place in the gym every Monday from 3pm until 4pm.”
Emily Cromey, Head of Art, Music, Drama and PE, said: “We have been lucky enough to have a yoga instructor volunteer to teach girls yoga.
“We are looking in to other ways to support boys and if there is enough interest in a boys yoga class or any other suggestions of ways to relieve stress, calm and help boys towards better well-being on the road towards the exam season would be gratefully received."
