Pool Academy has been Highly Commended in the prestigious STEM Inspiration Awards at the House of Lords.
They were up against six other schools from across Europe for the award and so were pleased with the final result.
A group of students from the Academy’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths club and their Science teacher travelled to London last week after being shortlisted for the Outstanding STEM club Award.
Judges said: “We were truly inspired by the work of Pool Academy and the way they have championed STEM throughout their school and beyond.”
Jack Jones, Science teacher, said: “We are really happy that the hard work of the students and staff was recognised in this way. I think it demonstrates our commitment to STEM and our aspiration of the students.”
Yvonne Baker, Chief Executive of STEM Learning, said: “These people and organisations provide the much needed spark that ignites young people’s enthusiasm for STEM. All our winners have excelled in their fields and I am delighted that we can recognise and celebrate their expertise and passion.”
Whilst in London the students were given a tour around the Houses of Lords and had the opportunity to chat with people including The Lord Sainsbury of Turville.
