Handball team win Gold

Pool Academy’s Handball team won Gold at County School’s Finals and are now set for regionals next year.

A group of Year 10 boys travelled to Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre at Truro School to take part in the Cornwall School Games Finals last week.

They beat Bodmin College, Humphry Davy school and Liskeard School to take home Gold.

The team took part in the finals on Friday after winning the qualifiers at Penryn Sports College against both Penryn College and Penair School.

Julian Hosking, PE teacher at Pool Academy, said: “Congratulations to our Year 10 Boys Handball team.

“The boys have been practising handball in both PE lessons and after school clubs over the past few weeks.

“At the finals on Friday they beat Bodmin College 16-1 and Humphry Davy 11-6 before holding their cool 3-2 down to Liskard to go on to win 7-4 and be crowned Handball County Champions.

“This qualifies the team for the regionals in Bristol in March 2019.”

Handball is a team sport where players pass a ball using only their hands. They score goals by throwing the ball into a goal behind the other team.
