Students help plant new saplings

Students have been helping to plant new saplings donated by The Woodland Trust in the school grounds.

The weather may have been dark and murky but this did not stop members of the school’s Nurture group getting outdoors and help to plant some of the small plants donated to Pool Academy by the charity.

They chose to put them in the grounds by the Pool School Art Gallery where the tree which is part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy has been planted.

The Woodland Trust sent Pool Academy saplings which included Hawthorne, Hazel, Elder, Downy Birch, Dog Rose and Dog Wood.

It is hoped they will grow between the fences recently installed around school premises.

Katherine Francis, who helped the Nurture group, said: “It was very exciting to be involved with planting the saplings near the Queens canopy tree. The students had a lot of fun.”

The Woodland Trust offer a number of different schools’ tree packs including Hedges, Year-round colour, Copse and Wild harvest.
