Girls’ football open trials held at unique centre based in Pool Academy

Scores of girls took part in open football trials held at Pool Academy to find talented players from across Cornwall.

The free to attend event saw more than 40 girls take part last month, with training taking place at The New Player development centre.

The centre is the only one of its kind in Cornwall, sits just below Cornwall FA Girls’ Advanced coaching centre and is based at Pool Academy.

Mark Fuller, from Pool Academy, said: “This was a great opportunity for girls to come along and experience high quality sessions and help develop their football. It was also an excellent chance to develop girls’ football across Cornwall."

Ella, who is in Year 8 at Pool Academy, said: “It is really good that the centre is only for Girls. It's also good that Plymouth Argyle are treating the girls as they do the boys. The fact that the centre is so close to us is great. "

Chloe, also in Year 8, said: “The girls’ development centre is good because there are no boys so the girls don't get left behind.

“It's great that Plymouth Argyle are focusing on girls’ football in our area."
