She said: “I really enjoyed my first year at Pool Academy and continue to be blown away by the talent and creativity of the students.

"My vision is that the Creative Arts and PE Faculty will be a thriving faculty where pupils have the opportunity to get creative, get involved and get active.

"We will offer pupils the opportunity to join after school clubs, teams, external projects, competitions and community events. We will frequently showcase the work of our talented pupils during performance evenings, exhibitions, in house and county competitions, and of course the Academy Production.

“I strongly believe our subjects promote the development of lifelong skills such as resilience, motivation, innovation and creative approaches to solving problems that will help pupils want to achieve their very best not only in school but throughout their lives.

“I am excited about the future. We have an up and coming musical which we can’t wait to get started on. The PE department is going from strength to strength with the employment of two new teachers, Tom and Chloe. We also have a partnership with Plymouth Argyle Football Club and will soon have a brand new fitness suite. We have art students making the most of the wonderful Pool School Art Gallery. There are so many great things going on that I want to shout about.

“So whether you are a footballer, a singer, an actor or an artist, we have got the creative outlet for you. I am really looking forward to bringing all the students together and make a real impact both in school and throughout the community.”

Claire Meakin, Pool Academy Principal, said: “This is a very exciting time for students as they are benefitting significantly from incredible projects.  Where else can students work with international artists in their own art gallery in the morning then train with professional sports personnel in the afternoon?

“Emily is determined to see all students engaging very positively with the whole range of projects and I’m looking forward to the next talent show already.”
