Students urged to attend ‘exciting’ lectures

Students are being urged to sign up to some ‘exciting’ lectures for aspiring medics and engineers.

Truro High School will be hosting the events which start tomorrow (Thursday) and booking is said to be essential.

The sessions will take place in the Piran Theatre, at the school, from 7pm-8pm. There will be refreshments from 6.30pm.

The first lecture tomorrow is titled “When will driverless cars change our life? Insights from real-world experience of building self-drive cars.” It will be led by Global Engineering Director, Aptiv, Ingo Stuermer.

On Thursday October 3, Miss Zarina Shaikh, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, CH NHS Trust, will be talking on “A career as Surgeon of the Face".

Lucy Cotton, Geothermal Engineering Ltd, will be speaking on “Deep Geothermal Power”.

The final lecture of the series will be held on Thursday November 28; “Plastic Surgery; a career in optimism” with Mrs Rebecca Dunlop, Consultant Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgeon, RCH NHS Trust.
