A sweet competition to celebrate Hispanic Day
Staff and students are being encouraged to take part in a sweet competition to celebrate Hispanic Day.
Pool Academy will be celebrating the international day 24 hours earlier with a baking competition on Friday October 11.
The event is open to members of Year 7 and Year 8. Cakes do not need to be big but they must be homemade and home decorated.
The winner will be given a prize unlike any other.
Deborah Cotterell, Modern Foreign Languages teacher, said: “Please bring in your cakes to MFL1 from Thursday onwards on a plate and covered or in a box with name and tutor group written on it.
“All cakes will be auctioned off at break time and lunch time on Friday in aid of the Barnardo’s charity.”
Canteen staff are also hoping to serve Hispanic food, possibly Paella.
Mrs Cotterell said she was looking forward to seeing some really delicious creations and didn’t envy the judges who will have a hard job finding the top bake.
