Free books for students
Tokens for free books arrived at Pool Academy recently and are due to be handed out to students as part of World Book Day.
The national event will be held on Thursday 7th March and children from across the country hope to take part in a number of events.
The tokens are for people under 18 and gives them the choice of a free book called Snap by Patrice Lawrence or Naught Forever by Malorie Blackman. The two titles have been written especially for this year’s World Book Day.
Alternatively, they could use it to get £1 off a book or an audiobook worth £2.99.
Sandra Hampton said she is looking forward to the day in March. She hopes to see the school celebrate with a number of possible activities.
She said: “We could hold some competitions. Maybe a short story competition, a poetry competition, favourite literary quote or favourite book read, and why.
“Another idea could be to put up author and titles around the school for students to find and guess which is which teacher’s favourite.
“I am proud to be able to take part in the World Book Day by distributing the tokens. I think it is a great way to encourage students to read more.”
The book tokens are valid from 28th February until 31st March this year and can be used at participating book shops.
On the back of the token there is the chance to win a family holiday to America
