Last year more than 80 awards were presented to students from across the South West Peninsula of Cornwall. They were rewarded for their Academic Achievement, Artistic Achievement, Sporting Achievement and Positive Contribution to their school or community.

Last week a representative from the awards visited Pool Academy to take the photographs of the students on the nomination list.

This year’s ceremony will be taking place in the Sports Centre on the Penryn campus from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Those attending are invited to wear smart clothing and students their school uniforms. There will be live music, canapés and drinks when they arrive.

A number of councillors and university representatives are expected to take part in celebrations.

During the ceremony last year pupils from each school performed a piece of music, dance or drama for the audience between each set of awards.

Lisette Neesham, Vice Principal at Pool Academy, said: "Our students were nominated by staff from Pool Academy for the Excellence Awards.

“I asked them all for nominations and the students we put forward were those who were frequently recommended by staff.

“It is wonderful to see they have been invited to the ceremony in Penryn. They deserve to be recognised for their hard work at school.

"I wish them all the best for the event."
