Student impresses with rugby skills

A sporting student from Pool Academy has been scoring for Cornwall after playing rugby in a recent tournament.

Ellie Bardoe, Year 9, is a member of the Cornwall Under 15s team and has been representing the county with her talents.

She recently travelled up to Tavistock to play against Devon, Gloucester and Somerset teams.

Ellie, who previously went to Treloweth Primary School, said: “Our first game was our best game. We played against the Somerset team and ended with a score of 32-14.

“We won 10-0 against Gloucester’s team and drew 5-5 in our game with Devon’s team. Devon was our hardest game of the day.

“My family came to watch us play and they were very proud of us.

“We now have another match on March 10th against the same times.”

Claire Meakin, Pool Academy’s Principal said: “It was so exciting to hear Ellie had taken part in the rugby tournament representing Cornwall. She is a credit to her family, the school and the county. Well done.”
