George Eustice MP has congratulated Pool Academy on the launch of its new Combined Cadet Force which has seen scores of students sign up already.

The secondary school held the CCF’s official launch last week with guest speakers including Louise Gabbitas, finalist from this year’s 'SAS: Who Dares Wins'.

By the end of the week more than 20 students from across the year groups had already signed up to take part and many more had asked for more information.

The official sessions are due to start in September with a number of activities planned in the summer term.

The MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has applauded the school for starting the scheme.

He said: “Congratulations to Pool Academy on the creation of their new CCF unit.

“Cadets is a great way for young people to learn leadership skills, take part in adventurous activities, and learn new skills. From improving social skills and problem solving, the CCF will be of enormous benefit to the pupils and staff at Pool Academy.

“I wish the new CCF unit all the best for the years ahead, these truly are exciting times, and I hope that both staff and pupils will embrace the incredible opportunities that lie ahead of them.”

Simon Ferguson, From Pool Academy, who is the CCF Contingent Commander, said: “It is wonderful to see so many students interested in joining CCF and taking part in September.”
