Rugby festival a hit

The rugby festival organised and held at Pool Academy has been heralded a hit with a number of impressive games.

Julian Hosking, PE Teacher at Pool Academy, ran the event which saw schools from across the county take part in the two-day event.

Top rugby players, referees and teachers helped out on the Tuesday and Thursday events to help everything go smoothly.

The sunshine also added an extra sparkle to the matches which saw students demonstrating exceptional skills and determination.

Schools from Redruth, Helston, Truro and across Cornwall all took part in a bid to win a medal or the top trophy.

Mr Hosking said: “It was a fantastic day and was great to see more than 420 children playing rugby.

“We carried out a waterfall play which meant teams from the different schools got to play others of the same ability.

“With the sunshine out we couldn’t have asked for better.”

During the presentations at the end of the festival Mr Hosking said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to watch you guys play rugby. Some of the students, quite possibly, have been the best we have seen.

“It was fantastic to see the way everybody played. Well done.”
