Martin, Year 11, Hannah, Year 10, and Ben, Year 7, went to the Scilly Isles for an annual competition with their club; Redruth Judo Club.

They left early one Saturday, trained in the afternoon with other students and clubs from across the county and then took part in the competition on the Sunday.

It took place in the Five Islands sports halls and was a success for the students. Martin received gold, Hannah bronze and Ben bronze.
That evening they celebrated with pizza and a disco.

Martin, who has been doing Judo for two years, said: “I took part in the under 55s although some were my age. I had two matches. The first one was quick but the second one I had a whole fight before I won.”

Ben said: “I enjoyed the competition as I had never been to it before.”

An adult helper, who went along with the group, said: “The Pool Academy students were polite and helpful with our younger children. They were Ambassadors for Pool.”
