Community Planning Session

Dear Parent / Carer,

I wanted to update you briefly on the ‘Community Planning session’ that we held on Tuesday 9th October.

We were grateful for those of you who were able to take part in the session and I know many more of you sent your apologies for the evening and asked to be kept informed about our progress.

During the evening we set out our strategy for the next 2 years, focusing on 3 key areas:

Ensuring the school is welcoming to the whole community

Helping families to actively support their child’s learning

Ensuring the highest quality community partnerships and multi agency working.

All the attendees on the evening set out key ‘pledges’ to develop the community partnerships. These included: Engaging Pool Academy’s students in each Redruth town festival; helping running a video trial where students create careers films, inviting students to their workplace so they can see what they do in action and inviting students to use their resources to enhance their extra-curricular experiences.

One of our first actions is to continue these discussions at the next meeting of our parent/teacher group, ‘Friends of Pool Academy’. This meeting will be held at 6pm on Tuesday 16th October in the Music block (back of school). If you like more information about this group, please contact Will McKenzie (Assistant Principal) by emailing or Steve Eathorne (Parent Governor) by emailing

We aim to keep you fully updated with the progress we make with our Community strategy and if you would like to take part, please contact me on the normal school number or by emailing

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Miss Claire Meakin
