20th September 2019
This week has been exceptionally busy and incredibly successful with students representing our school so wonderfully.
Our Open Evening on Thursday (19th) was a brilliant success thanks to all the students who stayed behind. They were a real credit to us and we’ve had so many positive comments about how friendly and helpful they were. We have uploaded the slides from Miss Meakin’s presentation to our website so if you would like to see them, they are available here: https://www.poolacademy.co.uk/open-evening-2019
We were incredibly lucky to have Professor Nathan Mayne working with our students today. Professor Mayne is an ex-Pool School student and he gave students an inspiring talk about Astrophysics and also how they can achieve anything they set their minds to - they just need to be prepared to work hard for it. Please look out for more information next week about his visit on our website and our Facebook page.
On Monday (23rd) all students will have an assembly with Mr Ward where our Knowledge Organisers will be launched properly. We apologise for the delay in getting the paper copy to students but we hope they have been making full use of the electronic copies on their iPads. Mr Ward will be explaining the school’s expectations for homework to students on Monday and we ask that parents and carers support all students to complete their homework that evening.
Two key dates for your diaries this halfterm:
Year 7 Tutor Evening: 17th October, 4pm - 6pm
Year 11 GCSE Success Evening: 2nd October, 6pm - 7pm
More details will follow next week about both events but, as always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
