4th October 2019
We loved seeing many of you this week at one of our three evening events, thank you.
Our GCSE Success Evening was really well attended, thank you, and was an opportunity for Mr Williams (Pastoral Leader - Year 11) and Mr Ward (Vice Principal) to explain the key timeline and support for all Year 11s this academic year. All the information from the evening, including the subject sheets, can be found here: https://www.poolacademy.co.uk/year-11 If you have any questions, please get in touch with either Mr Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mr Ward (email@example.com). We are already planning the Year 10 Evening so we will keep you updated with that date.
We loved meeting parents for our first Friends of Pool Academy meeting for a review of September. The minutes from the meeting can be found here: Friends of Pool Academy 2.10.2019 Our next meeting is on 3rd December 2019 and if you’d like more information, please contact Mr McKenzie (firstname.lastname@example.org). We are delighted to share our Review of September video and we hope you enjoy watching it: Review of September We would really welcome all parents and carers completing our questionnaire to help us review our first month and the link can be found here: Parental Questionnaire Autumn 2019 We will update you with a summary of the responses before halferm.
We also launched our Camp Kenya initiative. This week, 15 students arrived in MU2 for an exciting initial meeting for Camp Kenya with Camps International Rep - Amy. They began to look at what the exciting trip will include, and how they could go about raising the funds. The trip includes; Safari, 4 day Scuba getting a PADI qualification (allowing students to scuba up to 18m with a buddy, anywhere in the world) and around 20 days working in the local, rural community to help them with things like accessing running water, building toilets/wells, collecting elephant dung to make paper! If anyone in year 9-10 is still interested in coming, they can come to DT3 any time and discuss how we can get you there. The first fundraising meeting is on 9th October 1.20 - 1.50pm in DT3. If you would like more information, please contact Miss O’Connor (email@example.com).
We hope you’ve managed to keep up with all the exciting events so far this year, either through our website (Latest news or Student news) or our Facebook page. This week we have particularly loved sharing stories about our ex-student Erin who has been appointed as one of three Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for this year and our current students who have had an incredible trip to Valencia. You may have also seen our newly updated PE Facebook page which we believe will be invaluable for sharing information and celebrating successes: https://www.facebook.com/PoolAcademyPE/.
