6th September 2019

Thank you for your support during our first few days.  Our students have returned after the summer looking smart and in a really positive and determined manner.

It was lovely to see so many of you at our Information Evening on Wednesday and we hope you found it useful.  We’ve had lots of positive feedback so far and a request to share our slides. We’re hoping to upload them this weekend - we’ll let you know when they’re available.  If you weren’t able to join us, but would like an opportunity to hear about the changes, please contact me (either by phone 01209 712 220 or email principal@poolacademy.co.uk) and we’ll arrange a convenient meeting time for you.

After a small delay by our printing company, our Knowledge Organisers will be launched with all students on Friday 13th September.  Electronic copies are available on our website at: https://www.poolacademy.co.uk/homework.

Our Year 7s all received their iPads today and we’re looking forward to handing out the remaining year groups’ iPads as soon as all the student pledges are back in - thank you for your help with encouraging your child to return theirs promptly.  If your child is in Year 7, they can download a copy of their knowledge organiser onto their iPad today. We’re not expecting homework completed for Monday but I’m sure they’ll enjoy looking through their learning for the first Teaching Cycle.

We also gave our Year 7 students a ‘Contact Card’ to bring home for you today.  This has contact details for key staff to help you communicate easily with us. If your child hasn’t brought it home, or you’d like another card, there’ll be spares available in reception.  We hope to share the cards with the remaining year groups next week so please look out for them.

I hope your child has had a happy start to the academic year.  As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.  And we hope you can join us for our open evening on Thursday 19th September, 5pm - 8pm.  This evening is for any member of our community to come and see our newly transformed school so please spread the word.
